“It’s Not Too Late To Do The Right Thing!”

“Politicians Be Damned – Statesmen Are Needed!”

What is a ‘Republic’ as opposed to a ‘Democracy?’

‘What Defines a Republican, a Democrat, a Politician, or a Statesman?’

“Too many political figures want to direct public resources to private education via the voucher system. We cannot afford to write off the majority of America’s children.
And I would have a foreign policy that recognizes that we, Black People, are part of the global village – whether you want us or not! America should be an international healer not a bully,” says Sharpton.
“Do you really think that Black folk would struggle through slavery, carrying bags, talking about ‘we shall overcome’ and all those kinds of things; that a little voter ID issue would have actually stopped us from registering for the vote? Only a fool would think that Black folks wouldn’t go out and do what they need to do when they think their rights have been threatened!” says a Black Philadelphia Republican.

“The Other Peoples’ Money”
…The working class and poor seem to be the target of the rich and secure once again. When was the last time someone asked you for your opinion on the federal budget or how to spend tax payer money…your tax payer money?
Subject: Social Security
“Pay attention to your next ‘Social Security’ income whether you get a check or an electronic deposit….note what it is now called (see below). . .
“SOCIAL SECURITY NOW CALLED ‘FEDERAL BENEFIT PAYMENT’ /ENTITLEMENT!
Have you noticed your Social Security check is now referred to as a “Federal Benefit Payment?”
…The folks in Washington pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff ever did.
They took our money and used it elsewhere. They “forgot” that it was OUR money they were taking.
They didn’t have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to them.
And they didn’t pay interest on the debt they assumed.
And recently, they’ve told us that the money won’t support us for very much longer.
But is it our fault they misused our investments?
And now, to add insult to injury, they’re calling it a “benefit,” as if we never worked to earn every penny of it.
Just because they “borrowed” the money, doesn’t mean that our investments were a charity!
Let’s take a stand.
~VOTE!~
We have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare.
Demand that our legislators bring some sense into our government –
Find a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going, for the sake of that 92% of our population who need it.”
Then call it what it is:
“Our Earned Retirement Income.”
In This Reporter’s opinion:
I call it OPM as did other members of local, state, and federally trusted individuals. One such individual just got out of jail the other day. He went to a halfway house before going home to his multi-million dollar mansion.
OTHER PEOPLES MONEY! I’ll be damned…and they are continuing to make asses of us all – as we have allowed them to. I’m sure that I will never see one day of solidarity amongst our American brotherhood/sisterhood. If we participate in just one day of solidarity from coast to coast, we would be able to drive home the point to politicians everywhere…Dammit – YOU ALL WORK FOR US, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!

“The Victory Dance for the Over Fifty Plus”
…The City of Greensboro has agreed to pay $91,000 and furnish other relief to settle an age discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The EEOC had charged that the city failed to hire a 58-year-old job applicant in June 2007 in favor of three younger candidates.
The EEOC brought the lawsuit against the City of Greensboro under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) after the city failed to hire Terry Pearson (then age 58) as an electronic processes specialist within the city’s Guilford Metro 911 Division. The job was a technician’s position and generally involved maintenance of the city’s radio communication systems for first responders. Pearson had owned an electronics repair shop and had other substantial experience in electronics repair and maintenance through various technician jobs.
However, the city selected three substantially younger applicants, all under age 40, who, the EEOC contends, were not as qualified as…

“INTO THE VEINS OF HISTORY…”
One of the first such organizations appeared in New York in 1835; two years later Robert Purvis, a Philadelphia Negro and merchant persuaded a group of people to form a similar association in his city. Purvis was active in aiding fugitives; his house at Ninth and Lombard Streets had a secret room, entered only by a trap door, for hiding runaway slaves. In August 1837, the Vigilant Association of Philadelphia was formed “to create a fund to aid colored persons in distress.”
An elected committee of fifteen carried on the work of the Association. The first president – who was Purvis – the first secretary, and the first treasurer of the committee were all Negroes. Purvis continued as president when the committee underwent reorganization in 1839, and hired a fulltime fund-raiser. The committee used most of its to reimburse those who fed, clothed, and housed fugitives and to supply small amounts of cash to the frequently penniless slaves. Runaways heard about and appealed to the committee for help, for in the six months following the reorganization, June to mid-December, 1839, the committee handled more than fifty cases, sending forty-six to freedom. By the end of 1841, the committee averaged three-and-a-half cases a week. Then in 1842 an anti-Negro riot took place in Philadelphia. Robert Purvis was forced to guard his own door against the rioters, while nearby a Negro “Beneficial Hall” and church burned. He became disillusioned and withdrew to the Philadelphia suburb of Byberry. The activities of the Vigilant Committee gradually declined. (Nevertheless, the Philadelphia office had some excitement in 1849 when an express company delivered a crate from Richmond, Virginia…

“Across The Way”
What did the Indians do? Are we going to die like the pilgrim settlers, leaving the safety of the sea going vessels that carried them here to the Americas? I remember that wagon train in the western time mountains – they got stuck in hundreds of feet of snow and began to eat each other for survival. What did they use for a cook fire? Where are the Indians when you need them? They could help us survive! Please, won’t somebody tell us what to do?”
Some of the residents were fortunate enough to make the shelter circuit. Two weeks in, the repair crews were indefatigable in their dedication of restoring power to the various out of town communities.
The heavy-set Black Man, a power company supervisor, addressed the derelict destitute and depraved semi-homeless vagrants. He paid them a cordial visit, simply to reassure them, and report the power teams’ daily progress. He wanted to let them know how soon they could begin to return to their homes. But that was not to be. Savage and unjustly attacked was he. They hit him with verbal assaults from any and every direction. They wanted satisfaction now – right now.
“You are telling a damned lie! We are tired of waiting for you slow moving useless and worthless jabber jaws!”
He tried in vain to calm the people…

“As The Clock Turns”
……They (intend to) deceive God and those who believe, while they deceive not but themselves, but they perceive (it) not.
…In their heart is a disease and God increaseth their disease, for them is a painful chastisement, beware of the lie they were saying.
…And when it is said unto them, “Make ye not mischief in the Earth” say they, “verily, we are only the well-doers – the peacemakers.
Beware! Verily, they are the mischief mongers, but they perceive not. When it is said unto them, “Believe ye as the (other) people did believe, they say, “Shall we believe?”
Beware! Verily, they are the fools, but they know not. And when they meet with those who believe, they say “We believe” but when they go apart to their devils, they say, “surely we are with you, verily, we did but mock.”
These are they who purchase error for guidance, hence their transaction profitteth them not, neither are they guided aright.
The likeness of them is like unto one who kindleth a fire, and when it lighteth all around him, God taketh away the light and leaveth them in darkness, they see not. They are deaf, dumb, and blind; hence they will return not from their darkness.

“Rich And Greedy Poor And Needy”
Today’s politics and its’ practitioners constantly bombard the masses with untruths and vile falsehoods. The following horde of these creatures, lend credence to the fact of Babylon, the Tower of Babel and Nimrod, displaying their arrogance and opposition to the Lord of Hosts.
“Who is the bigger fool, the fool who leads or the fool who follows?”
I will never understand how and why this country, or the world for that matter, can stand by and allow the double standard system of rules and its continuous practices, i.e., (Sedition – Treason, What’s the Difference) one set of rules are distributed, practiced, applied, and implemented for one group or color of people, while another of lesser favor or value is pursued at the behest of another; one president white – the other, Black. Can anyone rationally explain this discrepancy? What of true and just treatment for all people – throughout the world and at home?
Political and Evangelical leadership remain suspect as they purport to love and protect the masses of poor and needy…not the rich and greedy.

“The Un-Obscure”
“Yes We Can” has changed to “Yes We Did” which has morphed into “Our Time Has Come!” “The Time Is Now!” Many Black (Persons of Color) personalities and leaders who were labeled as such, have said it in the past, “We Can’t Wait” have found the wait to be well worth it.
“THE TIME HAS COME!”
Less we forget, one must take pride in ones-self in order to gain the respect of others.
In light of the events that have, I think, brought pride, belief, and hope back into the life-line of the American Populace…

“To Kill an American”
Pakistan had published in a newspaper, an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.
So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American…
An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world…
The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.
An American is generous… Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need…

‘The Rails, Some Hemp, and A Hanging’
The company had its share of ‘shiner’s’ on both sides of the war-torn fences. Their horses bayed and pranced in the cold damp yet dark beginning of the day’s morn. My hanging tribunal was short and to the point. My foolish guilt could not be reversed, albeit, my hatred for these ‘Blue-Coats’ and their Black supporters surpasses my pain and sorrowful agony.

“Economic Blues – The Beat Goes On”
The Census Bureau reported that 43.6 million people lived in and or below the poverty level…! The television and radio programs playback over the airways – and cable and satellite too – many “come and get it” commercials. They say “come on down and buy this new car!”
The merchants and vendors are counting on a spending craze (as they do every year with designated seasons of celebration and money exchange). Their business – their very survival is based upon our ability to spend money – or the ability to charge it. Now I ask you… If half the country is out of work and losing unemployment benefits on a scale of phenomenal proportions – by the millions… How in the world can we afford to buy a new car, shop for and buy presents for the holidays, pay bills, buy food, purchase football tickets (the Philadelphia Eagles have raised their ticket prices by five dollars, with an average price nearing one hundred dollars a pop), and keep a roof over our heads – with NO MONEY?
The American populace is suffering in the worst financial crisis since the “Great Depression.” It’s simply amazing how someone or some entity is constantly trying to sell you and me something. It doesn’t matter if it’s a service or a product; they want us to buy it. Do they care if you and me have no money? Have you heard the car commercial tell us that we can buy a new car with no money down? Do you remember at the end of the spiel, the quick speaking voice noted the stipulation of the purchase requirement(s)? The cadence is spoken with subtlety – direct and quick, “this message is for well qualified buyers only!” You and me pay for television programs only to be inundated with

No Game For Fools: “The Pulverization of Polarization In Politico”
“I promise access to high quality programs provided through unnecessary overregulation – we will know who to blame, and blame them!”
They promise to relentlessly oppose the millionaires in defense of the middle class.
“My team will vigorously seek to raise the minimum wage and close tax loopholes that currently let millionaires pay less in taxes than teachers, firefighters, cops, nurses, and ditch-diggers. We will also end the tax breaks for multinational corporation who ship jobs to Mexico, China, Chile, or anywhere else.”

~“THE BALANCE OF A HOUSE IN ORDER…or not”~
Politicos…It’s not too late to do the right thing.
People should not have to suffer simply because they are poor. They should not suffer at the hand of man because they are different in appearance, different in skin color, and thought of as property or chattel. They should not have to suffer because another man says he should be subservient and do his bidding. They should not have to suffer because they think differently and worship differently than you or have a different creed than you. They should not suffer because you want to make more money than your brother and sister and your house is better and bigger. They should not have to suffer because you have luxury and personal transportation with more sustenance in your mount and belly. Have and maintain respect and acknowledgement to sovereign stateships that are independent of you. Remember, acknowledge, respect, and know the truth while sharing with others…the origins of Life and the Human Being.

“Arc of the Prophet”
Talking heads continue talking and protagonizing the word of the few in power and struggling to keep it so. They either have no clue or belief in prophecy as prescribed by the Most High who has taken effort to re-deliver his message via heralds of many stations… In today’s world of globalization, concealing how the powerful families continue to control much of the world’s financial, economic, and political resources is becoming harder and harder.
“A Presidential Commission found that relatively few white Americans would protest massive repression of Blacks. Presidential advisors have urged the internment of Black (Hebrew) youth on the pretext of rehabilitation. Sterilization and birth control programs are aimed against Blacks while masquerading under the name of hunger relief. In a December speech, President Richard Nixon dashed the hopes of many by not proposing any specific measures for immediate relief of hunger. His primary concern obviously was toward reducing the number of the hungry – not hunger itself – for it was on how to reduce the hungry that he had specific recommendations and specific action.”
In America, just as the governor of Pennsylvania has done, state governments have reduced if not completely eliminated the ‘Food Stamp Program’ to the poor and needy. This particular ruler has publicly stated that he would not release educational dollars earmarked for public schools in the state’s two largest cities. Primarily, The Philadelphia School District… The plan was without question a viable way to eliminate and eradicate an entire group of dependents at the beginning level…the children.
It is nothing to kill a people physically who has already been killed Culturally, Psychologically, Historically, Linguistically, Spiritually and Economically as a result of Disenfranchising them from their Ancestral lands.

“He Can Do What His Black Son Cannot”
“An outlet with a larger white readership, many more commenters would have chimed in to deny the continued existence of racism. In my experience, white people (and straight people, and male people, and Christian people — all groups of which I’m a member) tend to dismiss the notion that we’re privileged. It’s an uncomfortable thing to acknowledge that you’re the recipient of unfair benefits, especially when those benefits are often nearly invisible to those who receive them.”

“OUTNUMBERED?”
…Many of us have been taught to believe that there is more of one group of people in the United States than the other. Not only have we been taught to believe it, we were also bombarded with the belief that there are more White folk in the world than any other group of people as well. I’ve always wondered about that notion since I was a child. I used to ask my mother and grandmother how come all of those Natives were always afraid of Tarzan?

The advertisement Reads: (Buy This Entire Record for $6.99 – Official citation and/or docket number and footnotes (if any) for this case available with purchase. Learn more about what you receive with purchase of this case.)
I wonder… They’ve (The G.O.P. and right-wingers) made bold attempts to eradicate a plethora of things, yes? Are My Social Security Benefits at risk? Are yours as well? Would you agree that it would make them happy to see us all right back in chains? While the poor white folk and other working groups return to indentured service/slavery? Do you think that the changes they propose would make haters of You, Obama, and Me happy?
Based on factual material they have all been spreading falsehoods, misstatements, and untruths…in short, just plain and simple lying! They know it. Don’t you think that everything that has been done hasn’t been carefully and properly calculated? If you don’t, you’ve truly been asleep and out of touch with who and what has your best interest at heart. If they can touch the highest of us with filthy and vile contraband, think of what the powers that be can dig up on you.

“Zarganar”
Difference is as difference does… Would you have the government control you for saying something they don’t approve of? Is the First Amendment protecting you and yours? Does the First Amendment apply to you and me? How does our civilized, democratic society stack up to those who do crack down on the right to speak…privately or publicly? Would you live outside of the United States? How about the expectancy of receiving human rights and/or freedom and freedom of speech with the right to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (Justice for All) – in a country not of America?
Do we in America allow our government to oppress us, disrespect us, detect us, delete us, or to protect us? When we in America elect our government officials… do we control them or do they control us?
Can one find humor in oppression?

“The Pulverization of Polarization In Politico”: No Game For Fools

Image

By

Gregory V. Boulware

Well, here we go again. It’s that time of the year. It’s that time when they seem to come out of nowhere… The game is afoot! Oh yes, the campaign.

It comes with promises and cadences of the old, and maybe a few of the new. Many of them smile at us while sneering at the perceived enemy of the people.

He or she promises to protect social security and retirement benefits. They promise to protect seniors for their decades of hard work.

The rhetoric rallies from, through, and all over the city and county boast “It’s time for change!” They say, “It’s time the middle class comes first – It’s time the middle class becomes America’s top priority – It’s Time…”

They will promise us how they will change and demand insurance and drug companies to pay up. They will promise to make the public school district better and listen to what teachers have to say. They promise…

An independently voiced neighborhood newspaper in Northeast Philadelphia, posted an expose questioning politico’s law enforcement selection practices.

The proverbial hoops are once again made ready for the onslaught of vernaculars, and circumcised oratories. The clouded crystal balls of probabilities and innuendoes of righteousness spill out onto the masses. The chairs, benches, and podiums are filled to capacity as are the mass campaign promises on cardboard and plastic, filling the mailboxes throughout the land. Eyes and ears are bombarded while seats are filled atop guilt laden carpets that sneeze, weep, and cry of dirt upon heaps of dirt that is swept and pilled beneath.

Make ready…for it is time once again for the improvisation of who’s gonna do it better, and from which orifice will the pollution flow? But flow it must, its election time. Who really cares..? Many!

Enter, a Northeast Philadelphia Community Newspaper. Gaseous fumes filled one of its pages with a continuing fire of racism, polarization, and political non-sequitor opinions. A dude from the ‘Rhawnhurst’ area of town wrote a letter to the paper’s editor. Page ten of the March 26, 2014 publication posted the inflammatory falsehood.

The posting boasted of how ‘Mumia Abu Jamal’ was supposed to have admitted his guilt in the shooting death of a Philadelphia Police Officer. This reporter, Admittingly (conveying every sympathy to The Mrs., the Children, and family as well as to the family of Mr. Jamal), cannot help but wonder how the wife of the deceased cop, after remarrying, is able to continue campaigning for Jamal’s execution for more than thirty years. She has every right to do so, but what is the role of the new husband? Is he okay with his wife running around with a bunch of folks, who are dead set on Jamal’s guilt, and their rampaging efforts in demanding the imprisoned man’s death? It would seem improbable, though not impossible, that such a thing would be supported by the replacement…I should say second husband.

The writer called the convicted journalist a coward. He said Jamal shot him in the face, point blank, between the eyes.

He also said that “Mumia’s guilt has been proven beyond the shadow of a doubt with numerous people having witnessed this cold-blooded murder.” The narrow-minded, mis-informed, tunnel-visioned fellow has been duped, convinced, and blinded by the ridiculously racist and biased report(s) upon which he bases his position.

According to record, Mumia Abu Jamal has vehemently denied the murder and that the so-called witnesses have been tampered with including his missing brother. The case and accusations have all been tainted and diseased with cover up tactics and time. That particular piece of truth will never come to fruition or the light of day.

This diluted complainant has also pointed out in his mis-begotten theory that President Obama’s leadership abilities are sub-level. The writer’s disapproval of our Commander In Chief is flawed in his presidential decision making as well. The writer thinks ‘Debo Adegbile’ is a cop-killing supporter simply because the man did his job as a lawyer in defending a client. The client happened to be Mumia Abu Jamal, a journalist who has proven in his work, over and over, that he is a defender of the poor and down trodden.

This man, an obvious racist, has stated that our Black President “Thinks there’s nothing wrong with championing the cause of a cop killer.”

During the presidential campaign of 2008, ‘Barack Hussein Obama’ visited Philadelphia. One of his high profiled stops was the busy ‘Mayfair Diner’ on Frankford Avenue in the predominantly white and affluent section of the city. The picture of ‘Martin Luther King Jr.’ comes to mind when he marched through a similar predominantly white and affluent section in the town of Boston.

The crowd of thousands, Black, White, and all in between, came out to see him and hear him speak. After enjoying a sit down meal with the men and women, the staff and management of the Northeast eatery, they all posed for photo-shoots with him. It was just simply great. It was a great thing at a great time.

Outside the diner, traffic, of course, was at a stand-still (if any at all with the streets filled with people), the noise was deafening. A fire storm of excitement and joyful cheers continually erupted while filling the air with love, joy, and unity.

On the other side of the street, the nay-sayers who maybe stop short of calling themselves “Klansmen” or “Pro-White” with the grandeur of a slave master’s whip, jeered in protest.

They didn’t want these Blacks and other outsiders storming into their peaceful, tranquil, and “Lilly-white” neighborhood – especially the one running for the nation’s highest office. It did not matter that Philly has experienced the leadership of several Black mayors and a predominantly Black city council. It didn’t matter. They bitched and complained and jeered – they heckled “nigger go home!” We don’t want you here! This is our neighborhood – take your filth and trash back to where you live!”

Have you ever seen Frankford Avenue after a ‘Phillies,’ or ‘Eagles game,’ or ‘St. Patrick’s Day?’ Check out the neighborhood just before all the bars close…and after.

The rally, of course, was a complete and utter success. After the Obama-Rally was over, the area in question was left cleaner than it was at the beginning.

“Selective Law Enforcement and Cover Ups” are one of the worst crimes facing the city of ‘Brotherly-Love and Sisterly Affection’…and many other cities for that matter. Take a look at New Orleans. Whatever happened to Brother Ray Nagin, the city’s former two-term mayor and man of and for the people? What about Tony Mack, mayor of Trenton New Jersey, ‘a good ole boy?’ Were these guys rightfully convicted of the crimes to which they were charged? I don’t know. But I do know with so many elected officials as incumbents, and others being the recipients of endorsements and/or guaranteed victories, one has to wonder how many times have any of them escaped an investigation or prosecution?

Also included in the circular, another report suggests a federal judge publicly called out the Chief U.S. Attorney for failing to adequately assign a staff attorney so that a ‘strong-arm’ case against a particular teamsters union could more quickly proceed.

The judge apparently anticipated a troubled atmosphere. He was concerned, first and foremost, in the last few weeks; about the events surrounding an assortment of situations involving the manipulation of law enforcement that generate significant public concern in Philadelphia. A writer for this town’s major newspaper once observed its governance as “corrupt but contented.”

Another reporter observed the judge as probably knowing that the machinery within the city’s government was intricately tied up with unions. These corrupted unions who make policy and fund elections; elections and cases that are protected before they even get a ruling.

It would appear that the political machine has the power to put the brakes on certain investigations. They can do this easily when a particular case comes close to those who are currently or previously in office. Many of these elected officials as incumbents and other recipients of endorsements and/or guaranteed victories raise questions for the average voter. One has to wonder “How many times has this person gotten away with a crime?” How many times has he or she escaped legitimate investigations and prosecution?”

A self-made prosecutor, who happened to be Black, had been run out of town. She was apolitical and not from ‘Philly.’ She was simply doing the job in which she was trained to do. Well, you see, that is the last thing that anyone within that machine wanted her to do. Compounding this problem, there were multiple unanswered questions concerning the finances of several OARC projects and taxpayer funds.

One judge quoted a term of contradiction. He paraphrased the question, are we ready for “Philadelphia Justice?”

The young attorney was immediately and publicly criticized for her expertise and escalated contribution in the investigation. The so-called Black leaders personally insinuated that it was “even worse” because she was a Black person – a Black woman who is supposed to worship and treat the targeted Black City Politician as if he walked on water – as if he were a God. His views and position was supported by many of the politico’s power machine.

The young investigative attorney did no such thing. She packed her bags and moved to Ohio. There she accepted a peaceful and quiet job at a university.

The investigation, or course, came to a complete and full stop.

Now Hold On A Minute:

Another game surfaced along the way, my friends. At the state level, a colorful and recent investigation gained a number of fast, loose, and sharp turns leading to obscurity. In a clear, albeit, clandestine political pave over concerning someone called “Mr. ATM,” a tactic was used betwix “certain law enforcement types” due to a very close relationship. According to one particular report, certain politicians wished to “minimize investigative activity,” into their own affairs of state as well. If they couldn’t simply make it go away, they would “drag it out” and eventually “forget it.” It was a new program with an old politically charged governmental twist. Does this sound familiar? It’s been widely used over the years.

A special meeting was held in recognition of a spending spree. The mal-hopping venture with all its expenditures was said to have been perpetrated by one “Mr. ATM.” The planned meeting was for the direct and formal attempt to remove him and separate him from power and funds.

This move would allow the ‘business-as-usual’ time and distance needed in order to offset any investigation by sweeping it under the nearest rug. After a few preliminary inquiries, the dust mites will have had their meal while a coffin is being prepared for its final resting place – lost in a file somewhere unknown.

Upcoming elections have been a primary issue converging on Philly voters’ during the last few weeks. Several events almost always appear to merge into one. From recent months as well as the last few years never fails to get the temperature up as the electorate race gets under way.

The race in the primary elections have always proven to be somewhat comical if not predictable. Here in Philly, the election process is a virtual one party government.

Wasted money means absolutely nothing to electorate prospectors. The ideology is “There’s always more where that came from.” So why bother with worrying over compliance issues involving spending? News, at several levels either causes a person to blink uncontrollably or makes the head shake, twist, turn a complete one hundred and sixty degree turnaround, and then shrink in utter disbelief. Somewhat like that little girl in the movie, “the Exorcist.” It is the usual cynicism around town that there is no limit on how the…oops, our political establishment will use the power once acquiring and accessing the use of high office. Will they shelter just about anyone or any situation from oversight, compliance, or prosecution? It should matter who the guilty party is just as long as there is clear and compelling evidence with any form of wrong-doing.

Interestingly enough, a case recently ventured forth with the stench of selective and clandestine discretion. The newly appointed state attorney general made an outrageous decision based upon a series of investigations with clear and profoundly established violations of the law. The “Tower of Pisa” tilted to the point of; according to the naked eye, collapsing. Of course it remained standing, stiff and rigid; squashing the clear and greatly detailed documentation as opposed to making things right and doing the right thing – what you are hired and paid to do.

When challenged, a rather weak and flimsy reference to racism could be involved. The violations of law appear to be pointing fingers at our most trusted and believed in ‘Black Politicians,’ both city and state. Accordingly, withheld documentation indicates details of multiple violations involving gratuities, kick-backs, and favors abounded.

The vast majority of elected officials in this region of the state happen to be Black. For many years, this city has elected a multitude of Black individuals who are supposed to look out for – to represent the people, especially downtrodden working class and poor people who have no one to stand up for them.

Do we, the people, defend them who are supposed to defend us if they are guilty of betrayal? Some folks may point out the corruption cases spotlighting “Ray Nagin” of New Orleans, Louisiana or the ex-mayor of Trenton New Jersey, “Tony Mack” for their federal prosecution and convictions. For the most part, this reporter; not unlike Mr. Jim Foster, Editor of the Independent Voice, reporter and source for this submission; can only wonder why those who are suspected (charged or accused) will quite possibly never get their day in court? Are the dodging offenders not wishing to clear their good names, prove their innocence?

According to a political watchdog group, “The Committee of Seventy,” the newly appointed attorney general has not been setting a very high standard as proven by the recent decision to shut down the current investigation. The committee wasted no time in going public with that announcement. The demand has gone out for an outside investigation into the established corruption participants. The committee demands that the outside team be devoid of partisan slanting and a total review concerning the decision making of the attorney general. It also wants an independent report delivered unto them involving further indication that the suggested ‘shut-down’ smells bad when members of both parties have formerly announced that they want an ethics investigation of their own with the finding of members involved in bribery and extortion deals.

They also said it doesn’t look good when we’re seen or portrayed as “liars and cheats” and we are accused of cover-ups and other noteworthy scandals. One member of the state house commented on how he could not believe that one of their own would, as a result of hearing about it, readily take or become involved in such behavior. “After all, we’re not simple minded folk – we’re lawmakers.”

A memo, apparently, was dusted off by another newly appointed attorney general. The original one preceded the new appointee’s watch. But nevertheless, it was included in a file. It was an investigation file looking into how funds were utilized within Philadelphia’s political machine. The Philly political machine didn’t doddle with time. Producing its own challenge to prove them guilty of a crime, any crime proving or depriving how funds were being allocated.

Some information contained therein records how slimy deals came from one group headed by “Mr. ATM.” Two restaurants / nightclubs, a jazz festival, and a shopping plaza / strip mall were all overfunded, according to Foster’s report. It goes further to cite the projects as being out of compliance, or tainted in one way or another. The allusion further proposes there are likely many more projects of ‘Mr. ATM’ that might not pass or have not passed the smell tests should the audits ever be done or come to fruition.

Foster says there are some investigations that just need to be prioritized and taken to the public. This information would surely outrage the populace when folks are made aware of the evil vengeful tactics and practices engaged by these politicians. Imagine if you will, folks in the party intentionally and purposefully inflicting pain on someone simply because they are the opposition or stand in the way of planned for profit proceedings.’

This kind of behavior has been the standard fare by the status quo in politico for un-countless years. Julius Caesar could attest to that, like many of his predecessors and his replacement as well.

The degree level and the financial burden to the everyday, average tax payer could quite possibly be the determining factor involving who gets prosecuted and who does not. Skin color factors play a significant role in this game not designed for fools, albeit, many a foolish fool has found themselves tangled in the sticky and fatal web of avarice, power, and greed. Many have long forgotten the originality of the role they were supposed to play – for, and by the people. Many factors weigh in on whether they (the prosecutors) go away as well.

Many politicos have gone down this road to perdition…they have made that trip in recent years; White, Black, Latino, Republican, or Democrat…it doesn’t matter, death is dead; as dead as can be, perpetual hell…forever.

Ironically, there has been some infighting amongst the politicos and the prosecutors alike. How many of the targeted politicians will be met with a slap on the wrist and a free walk because they are all connected to all the right people?

Election time is once again upon us, as recent as May 20th. The power brokers in Philly, as well as the players throughout the State of Pennsylvania are looking to fill seats with individuals who are less of an independent thinker. The want team players with the spirit of being totally compliant with the agendas of lobbyists and insiders as opposed to those who think outside the box – a team player for the people – all the people!

Jim says he can see a deal happening here. Can you? What about the eight percent sales tax that was supposed to roll back last year in Philadelphia? It’s currently at eight (8%) percent. The mayor, city council, and a few other folks down there at City Hall (and beyond, i.e. the governor’s office) are pushing for another hike…to nine percent (9%). What’s to keep them from raising it up to ten (10%) percent or higher? Will you stand idly by and watch how they continue to dip their greasy little hands into our pockets? Why is the Philadelphia School District not receiving the funds needed in order to run correctly? Do you think they are trying to get it from you and me? Well, if not, what’s the tax hike for?

Don’t take the vote for granted…choose carefully; vote wisely in this election – every election.

Til Next Time…
